An Ebb and Flow table, also known as a flood and drain table, is a type of hydroponic system used for growing plants. It consists of a flat table or tray that holds the plants and a reservoir of nutrient-rich water below. The system works by periodically flooding the table with the nutrient solution and then draining it away.
During the flooding phase, the nutrient solution is pumped or allowed to flow into the table, submerging the plant roots. The plants absorb the necessary water and nutrients from the solution. After a certain period, the excess solution is drained back into the reservoir, allowing the roots to have access to oxygen.
This cyclic process of flooding and draining provides the plants with both water and nutrients while allowing the roots to receive oxygen during the draining phase. It helps to prevent overwatering and promotes healthy root development.
